WE ARE AN ONLINE RESOURCE HUB FOR EDUCATORS IN CATHOLIC SCHOOLS

Welcome to GPBS

A multimedia website connecting faith, liturgy and life

GPBS (Gather, Proclaim, Break, Send) is a multimedia online website connecting faith, liturgy and life. It’s for School and Parish communities searching for contemporary resources that speak to the hearts, minds and stories of people, especially the young.

Why GPBS?

GPBS is based on four key components: Gather, Proclaim, Break, Send – these components are essential elements for planning, preparing and proclaiming in liturgy and ritual and ultimately connecting with our life experiences. The GPBS team is committed to providing resources that are user-friendly and adaptable. We are continually developing and redeveloping resources after dialogue with people who are working in the ‘mission field’ – listening, discerning and creating. We are conscious of the time (and energy) taken in preparing liturgy and prayer that is engaging, challenging and life-giving. Therefore, our website is user-friendly and liturgy-friendly. At GPBS we are committed to supporting and promoting, where possible, Australian Catholic artists who give so generously of their time and talent. GPBS has a listening ear to the signs of the times and the movement of the Spirit in the lives of God’s people

The Scripture of the Week

Jesus said, "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, she will guide you into all the truth; for she will not speak on her own, but will speak whatever she hears, and she will declare to you the things that are yet to come". (John 16: 12 - 13a)

The Sunday Gospel

The Prayer of the Week

Creating God, we come to celebrate your creation. Transforming Christ, we come to be renewed in you. Dancing Spirit, we come to live by your rhythm. May we find time enough to gaze at the heavens, and silence enough to wonder at the handiwork of love, and grace enough to find ourselves bound together by your hands. Creator, Transformer, Dancer, we come to praise and live with you in community. Amen.

The Words of Pope Francis

The Trinity is not the product of human reasoning but the face with which God actually is revealed, not from the heights of a throne, but walking with humanity. It is Jesus himself who revealed the Father to us and who promised us the Holy Spirit. God walked with God's people in the history of the People of Israel, and Jesus has always walked with us and promised the Holy Spirit, who is fire, who teaches us everything we do not know, and from within us guides us, gives us good ideas and good inspirations. (Angelus address, 26 May 2013)

I really don’t want to prejudge any of these kids, but …

The Latin term tabula rasa means “scraped slate” or blank slate. We know that no child is a blank slate in terms of their minds. But there is another kind of blank slate that can be a gift to those who are granted it.

Where’s God in all this?

The teacher was making a point while correcting a child by helping him recall that God is everywhere. The teacher asked the child, “Where is God?” The child was silent, so the teacher asked again, “Where is God?”

Is this a vocation? Sometimes it really doesn’t seem like it.

Some days, from the time the students arrive until they leave, there is nothing that seems vocation-like in our work. Ordination, religious life, marriage – clearly those are calls from God.
