Scribbles (Secondary) (2022)

Why are these resources important?

Young people today are born into a world that is increasingly more complex and challenging than in the past. The Internet, instant messaging, cable TV, video games, mobile phones, social media, and popular music expose teens to a wide assortment of influences. At the same time academic demands have accelerated in the last generation as have the choice of extracurricular activities. As the variety and enticement of influences increase, young people today must weigh the relative merits of diverse choices and decide what to accept and what to reject from a mound of options unlike what has ever been seen before.

So, how does praying and reflecting on Scripture fit into the picture? Who am I? What am I? How do I relate to others? Why should I act this way or that way? What is most important to me? In praying and reflecting on the scriptures, young people hear that God’s love should guide our dealings with others, which are to differ significantly from the revenge, selfishness, and greed that are so often featured in pop culture.

With these weekly assembly and classroom reflections, we pray that young people may find this experience to be a lighthouse in navigating through the complexities and challenges of the teenage years.
