WE ARE AN ONLINE RESOURCE HUB FOR EDUCATORS IN CATHOLIC SCHOOLS

Welcome to GPBS

A multimedia website connecting faith, liturgy and life

GPBS (Gather, Proclaim, Break, Send) is a multimedia online website connecting faith, liturgy and life. It’s for School and Parish communities searching for contemporary resources that speak to the hearts, minds and stories of people, especially the young.

Why GPBS?

GPBS is based on four key components: Gather, Proclaim, Break, Send – these components are essential elements for planning, preparing and proclaiming in liturgy and ritual and ultimately connecting with our life experiences. The GPBS team is committed to providing resources that are user-friendly and adaptable. We are continually developing and redeveloping resources after dialogue with people who are working in the ‘mission field’ – listening, discerning and creating. We are conscious of the time (and energy) taken in preparing liturgy and prayer that is engaging, challenging and life-giving. Therefore, our website is user-friendly and liturgy-friendly. At GPBS we are committed to supporting and promoting, where possible, Australian Catholic artists who give so generously of their time and talent. GPBS has a listening ear to the signs of the times and the movement of the Spirit in the lives of God’s people

The Scripture of the Week

Jesus turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the words of Jesus, how he had said to him, "Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times". (Luke 22: 61)

The Sunday Gospel

The Prayer of the Week

God living among us, we are grateful for the people in our lives and in our school who are willing to walk with us and help us unravel the mysteries of life and death and love and God. You continue to reveal your love for us through deeds and through words. Your love is a mystery we hope to understand at Lent's end. Help us to listen well and choose wisely. You are spirit and life. Amen.

The Words of Pope Francis

But the Cross of Christ invites us also to allow ourselves to be smitten by his love, teaching us always to look upon others with mercy and tenderness, especially those who suffer, who are in need of help, who need a word or a concrete action ... How many times have we seen them in the Way of the Cross, how many times have they accompanied Jesus on the way to Calvary: Pilate, Simon of Cyrene, Mary, the women ... And you, who do you want to be? Like Pilate? Like Simon? Like Mary? Jesus is looking at you now and is asking you: Do you want to help me carry the Cross? Sisters and brothers, with all the strength of your youth, how will you respond to him? (Address, World Youth Day, Way of the Cross, 26 July 2013)

I really don’t want to prejudge any of these kids, but …

The Latin term tabula rasa means “scraped slate” or blank slate. We know that no child is a blank slate in terms of their minds. But there is another kind of blank slate that can be a gift to those who are granted it.

Where’s God in all this?

The teacher was making a point while correcting a child by helping him recall that God is everywhere. The teacher asked the child, “Where is God?” The child was silent, so the teacher asked again, “Where is God?”

Is this a vocation? Sometimes it really doesn’t seem like it.

Some days, from the time the students arrive until they leave, there is nothing that seems vocation-like in our work. Ordination, religious life, marriage – clearly those are calls from God.
